SNOWfest Day Two: Slight Change in Plans...

So... due to the immense amount of snow and ice that we recieved last night, we are not going to Afton Alps for a second day. We wanted to keep the students and the bus in safer conditions than on the mountain. So instead we are headed to the MALL OF AMERICA for 4 hours at the amusement park! Should be a fun time. If you have questions feel free to call your student's room leader's cell phone. We plan on leaving the mall at 2:00 pm in order to get home by 10:00 pm. If that changes we will call you. Thanks!

SNOWfest - Day One

Well, one day down, one to go! We are back at the hotel and everyone is safe and secure, barring a few rough riders... We had an amazing day on the slopes, took some great pictures and made many great memories!

Here's the recap:
Cody and Colten Tennison started the day as beginners and ended as experts. The Hunkin kids had a great time down the mountain and hanging in the lodge getting connected. Shy tried snowboarding for the first time! Jessie, Leah and Ashley were stellar first timers as well. Josh and Emily Knox, Anna and Rachel and Shey were charging down black diamonds on skis. Jared and Tyler are sported their HAWKEYES and COLTS gear all over Afton Alps! Canyon rocked the hills with Kyle and Ryan. Ben, Blake and Jerry, took the backside of the mountain by storm, while Brandon, Sara, Charlie, Ethan, Josiah and Stephen charged the jumps and showed the rest of us how its done! Uele acted as Mr. Mom with ski lessons, medicines, and good ole' Samoan comfort, while Nick acted as the Abominable Snowman.

All in all, it was a great first day!

WE ARRIVED!!

Hey parents! Just wanted to let you know that we arrived safely in Minnesota. We didnt really hit any bad weather on the drive. So we arrived here at the Red Roof Inn, at 7:30 pm. We will leave for the slopes tomorrow morning at 9:00 am. We are so excited to be able to have this opportunity with your students! Thanks for allowing us to minister to them! We are praying that God will use this trip to create new friendships and strengthen existing bonds within our youth group! Again thanks for letting your student go on this trip, and look forward to more updates soon!

Kurt

P.S. If your student did not go on the trip, this is just a reminder that there will be no Student Ministries services this weekend. See you next weekend!

Do You Like Me? Yes...No...Maybe...

Starting this weekend (February 10/11th) we will be beginning our most exciting series yet! It is called "Do You Like Me? Yes...No...Maybe..." and will address the topics of dating, love, relationships, sex and purity from God's perspective. We hope that your student will be able to attend all 6 weeks of this series and that it will be helpful in creating a starting point for conversations between you and your student about these important, and often misunderstood topics. We will be recording every message in this series and they will be available to you if that is something that you would be interested in, so that you know what your student is learning about at church. Also we know that these topics are common discussions between teens so we encourage you and your student to invite friends to join them during this important, educational and fun series! Also to go along with this series, our Life Groups will be reading through "Every Young Man's Battle" and Every Young Woman's Battle" and learning and discussing together the need for sexual purity and a right view of relationships with the opposite sex. If you have any questions about this series, please don't hesitate to call us at 515.987.9595 ext. 134.

Here is a schedule of the topics that will be discussed during this 6-week series:
Feb. 10/11th - Boy Meets Girl - How to relate to the opposite sex...

March 10/11th - I've Messed Up... Now What? - Trusting God for fulfillment and forgiveness...
