Give to the Victims in Haiti this Weekend...

Imagine tonight without shelter. No light or water or toilets or food. You can't find your child. Death surrounds. Reality in Haiti.

It’s easy to watch an hour of CNN and be left worse than when you started. That level of intensity and catastrophe can tend to lead us down one of two paths:

• A numbed sense of powerlessness and detachment
• or
• A harried sense of temporary responsive activism

We are praying instead that God leads us and leads you to a God Given, Holy Spirit Driven, Sustainable and Responsible Response that reflects the way of Jesus.

We are asking that you

• Pray Now (For those suffering, for those serving, for families, new orphans, new widows)
• Give Some (This weekend, you or your student can, and should, bring some money to The Spark or 4ORTY 2WO for our special offering to give to Compassion International. Whatever amount you have in your head, add 25%)

We are praying for Haiti. We are praying that we would live a Gospel that has always been for the poor, the outcast, the forgotten.

Ladies, mark you calendars for Friday, February 5th through Saturday, February 6th! Student Ministry presents an event for girls only! Through fun videos, engaging discussion, lots of fun games and activities, and meaningful interaction between students and adult women of all ages and life stages, our goal is to help girls feel comfortable in their own skin and know how to survive and thrive as they navigate through adolescence. And it's a ton of fun! Grab a permission slip from the Student Zone, and get signed up! The cost is $10 per student, but any new girl friend she brings gets in FREE! Parents...

If you are a Parent of a 6th-12th grade student, then you will want to be sure that you make it to the Parent Meeting on Sunday January 24th. It will be from 12:00-1:00p in the Student Zone. We will be discussing all of our upcoming events, like Big Stuf Summer Camp, as well as our new teaching series for the Spring, including our Sexual Purity series called "PURE," which will begin on Sunday, February 14th, 2010. Student Ministry Baptism Service!

We are having a Student Ministry Baptism service on Wednesday, December 16th, from 7:00-8:30p in the Student Zone. This is an occasion for the entire family to celebrate the life change that Jesus has done in the lives of our students! It will be a great night of celebration with worship, testimonies and baptisms. The theme for this year's Student Fall Retreat is "Captivate." During this incredible weekend, students will be drawn into the greatest story ever told: The epic story of God's relentless love for His people. This story has the power to capture our hearts and transform our lives forever, sending us on an adventure to change the world as God changes our hearts and lives.

Sunday, November 1st, is the last weekend to sign up for CAPTIVATE - our Fall Getaway. This is going to be one of the greatest weekends of the year and your student(s) will not want to miss out on this!!
